Cristina Meloni currently is promoting with Progetto Contemporaneo
the first year of Candelieri 4 Recidencies :

"Candelieri4Residencies" is an international residency program in his first edition,  developed by a scientific committee (composed of young curators and Sardinian artists ) for the production of interventions within the territory. This project it was  the desire to make a survey on a topic of popular and religious traditions of the island: the Candelieri, massive wooden pillars with ancient origins, symbolic candles that have purely religious function,  sustained and carried on the shoulders in a dancing procession through the streets of the center of four towns. It is a festival that derives from a vow to the Virgin Mary, which would save from the plague the city of Sassari, Ploaghe, Iglesias and Nulvi. Is held on 14 and 15 August, this days are dedicated to the Virgin Mary. "

:http://progettocontemporaneo.blogspot.it/p/progetto-candelieri-di-sardegna.html

Chantal Riekel (French-German artist. 1977)
--- --- --- --- ---
The notion of the untold, the recalling of memories that are buried in our minds… Using photography, printmaking and film, Chantal Riekel engages with hidden narratives that emanate from individual and collective experiences. Her creative process is fueled by her background in cultural history, which leads Riekel to carry out research around a particular historical moment, a collection of images, letters and memorabilia.

Alessandro Sau (Cagliari, Italy. 1981)
--- --- --- --- ---
Sau’s work shows his attraction by the process of construction and destruction of things. His paintings, sculptures and installations are conceived as being in a state of becoming. His work consists of multiple fragments of an idea: every work is a fragment, a relic of a process that attempts to make this fragment universal. For Sau, the work should embody the entire process. His work also reveals his education in Philosophy and he often accompanies his pieces with a brief essay about concepts he feels to be fundamental to his art practice. In words of Sau: “I like to think of myself as a person who knows one thing: that he knows nothing?”.

Nicholas Pye (Torquay, England.1976. Lives and works in Canada)
--- --- --- --- ---
His art practice braids together his interests of performance, cinema, video installation and large format still photography. Pye understands his work as a container of other disciplines as theatre and opera. Influenced by authors like Eugène Ionesco or Samuel Beckett, he portraits everyday moments reflecting on the idea of absurdity or loneliness, creating unique scenes and soundscapes, as he plays with the time scale and the impossibility to progress.

Born in Sassari in 1983. She Works and live between Cagliari and Urbino
She has studied in Accademy of Fine Arts of Sassari and and in 2012 she completed her Master in  the Accademy of Fine Arts of Urbino.

Artist's statement:
"Intimacy and irony, with these two words I could describe my artistic research. Since many years I’ve been exploring my physicality in relation with objects and the idea of the fetishism of an interior experience. An unusual map in a familiar territory which is never fully known. I use different media from performance and installation to sculpture, video, painting and photography to show aspects of the private sphere but always with decency, even when revealing indiscrete nudity. A mise en scène of the results of an intimate and almost ritual investigation which reveal unconfessed aspects of the psychology of the inner self. The inventory of my body is transformed into an ironic
adventure."

Down the Rabbit Hole
Going down the rabbit hole in physics terms is how far are you willing to discover your true nature. Alice and wonderland gives you an example. Once you go down everything goes crazy.
….Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, "and what is the use of a book," thought Alice "without pictures or conversation?' When suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. There was nothing so very remarkable in that, but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and fortunately was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.
The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel for some way, and then dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down a very deep well. Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end! Down, down, down. When suddenly, thump! thump! down she came upon a heap of sticks and dry leaves, and the fall was over. Alice was not a bit hurt, and she jumped up on to her feet in a moment. There were doors all round the hall. Alice opened the door and found that it led into a small passage, not much larger than a rat-hole: she knelt down and looked along the passage into the loveliest garden you ever saw. Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible.
What a curious feeling! Which way? Which way? Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way….
Feel free to Get Down the Rabbit Hole and open the door!
Alice in Wonderland is more than just a children's book and that the nonsense is not as random as it seems at the first glance.
"Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle!"
We've been working really hard on the past exhibitions and thanks to all selected artists we have had a great positive feedback. You can now submit your new application. In the coming weeks there will be a lot more feel free in the art world. Our goal is to have the best Feel Free artists worldwide.
The project includes a series of exhibitions throughout the year and final catalog presented during an International art fair, where will be published and commented all selected artists. For the international art fair, from all exhibited artists will be selected, by an international curator, 6 artists to be exhibited.
